Before leaving SF, I wanted to take a drive down Lombard Street, the crookedest street. Mike was kind enough to drive it once for me and at the bottom, I got out of the car and took some pictures. The street is lined with gorgeous flowers but not a street you would want to drive often. Very steep and very zig zag.
Down Route 1 to Monterey is a beautiful drive right on the coast. We stopped for lunch in Monterey and then continued on to Carmel where we walked around the town, had a drink at a local bar and then walked back to the hotel, stopping along the way to have a lig dinner at Vesuvio. Delicious!
From Monterey to Carmel is a direct distance of about five miles but the best way to go is the Seventeen Mile Drive through Pebble Beach. Beautiful homes, a few different golf courses besides the renown Pebble Beach. Only disappointment was not getting to stop at the Club and Pro Shop due to the fact that the Champions Tour was having either a practice round or a ProAm.
